Pearl Jam – Better Man Lyrics 14 years ago
I love this song, although it is very sad. Maybe it's just interpretation... But my favorite is the guitar intro! :)

I loved this song, I always saw it as a young girl who was left alone (abandoned) but kept a facade up, a smile for all to see... It reminds me of myself, and that's probably why I love this song so much.

My friend recommended this song to me. As I usually do, I just listened to it and nodded appreciatively. But it wasn't until I looked up the lyrics, I realized something. With the line "Maybe I should cry for help/maybe I should kill myself" (along with some other recent activities of his) I realized he was depressed. I asked him about it and he admitted to his depression and self-harming. This song, along with "Fatal Flower Garden" by Andrew Bird, saved his life, I know it. And now the world will be a better place for him. :)

I never knew all the lyrics until I looked them up. This song was recommended to me by a friend, and I never realized how depressed he actually was until I saw all the lyrics. When I did, I asked him about it, and he admitted his depression. This song probably saved his life.

Counting Crows – Another Horsedreamer's Blues Lyrics 14 years ago
I always saw it as a girl who was alone, or mostly alone in her world. She's kind of trapped in her world, struggling with a normal life, friends, family, anything. "Money is the matter that's been on her mind" She bets on horses to escape, "Time ticks by her one race at a time". She tries to be perfect, keep up, "Trying to be a good girl and give them what they want", but she's scared of being alone, of waking up lonely... I suspect abuse too, "drunken fathers and stupid mothers and boys who can't tell one girl from another". "One of these days she's gonna throw the whole bottle down", she can't deal with it all. She dreams of horses, dreams of freedom. I mean, if you think of horses, don't you immediately imagine a free horse running wild through green grass? So she dreams of freedom, even if the only means of doing so is by suicide.
This is only my opinion, it's my favorite song. I love it all the same, however.
