This is actually based off of a particular section of the Kalevala.
The hero of the poem is a man named väinämöinen, he was engaged to marry a woman named Aino against her will, she killed herself by drowning in a lake. Her spirit then returns as a large fish, väinämöinen goes fishing on this lake after hearing the story of mermaids and plentiful fish. He catches her and tries to gut the fish at which point she reveals her true nature and scared and upset flees back into the lake again. |

here's two flaws in this post:
* the band are in no way Ayn Rand devotees. Peart appreciated her world view as a younger man and decided to incorporate it in some of his music.
* The song is not complaining about money in music it's complaining about people who create false, sub standard and generic music they didn't write in order to get a pay check and an award. I.e. most modern pop groups in the charts. I assumed that was obvious considering the lyrics but i guess not. |

Guitarist Ville Friman stated this song is dedicated to Miika Tenkula the former lead guitarist and chief composer of gothic metal band Sentenced (sometimes referred to as "the suicide kings") Tenkula was known for being massively depressed in life and died in 09 to a heart attack. Insomnium are huge fans of the band who were very large and very influential in Finland. |

I would say it was about touring "my body lies but still i roam" may well be a reference to death but it may also be a reference to the fact that they sleep on a tour bus and hence their body is still lying but they're still roaming. |
