| I pretty much got the same thing Adzyman did. The Truth can not survive part seems a bit off, but who knows. Truth could be the religious version of the word, which just means *Insert Religion Here*'s views are 100% correct, all others are lies, regardless of the laws of nature or existence in general. So in that case, religious "truth" can not survive could be a possibility. If it's not that, it sounds like lying to yourself to try to push yourself further or something. | |

At first I saw it as a song about heartbreak, but sometimes I think it might also be about religion failing the lyricist during a breakup or just in general. I've wrestled with angels...all my life (ie wrestled with his faith) It's always the halos and the wings that keep you blind (Halos/Wings = Angles = Religion. Believing everything will be fine no matter how bad it gets or whether you try or not, as long as you have faith, even though it most likely will not. Thus keeping you blind to the truth of the matter) And if I fall with all the strength I held inside I wouldn't be out here alone tonight (When all was said and done, faith didn't fix the problem and he realizes his faith failed him, he no longer feels a connection to it, thus removing the feeling of love and acceptance religion bestows, leaving him "alone") etc… might not be, but definitely in the realm of possibility. I’ve had breakups that nearly shattered my reality, so I can see how it would call something like that into question. |
