This has always been my favorite song by AEF. Many, many times, this has been a driving song to pull myself from the gutter, out of a bad situation, and to overcome all that stands in the way. Though the face value of this song sounds dark and brutal, and the music even more dark and brutal, it has been more about the storm of emotions and confusion that often comes with the hard times, and the ending...that's that moment of clarity and streamlined thought before coming back into sync with life. To me, this song is a triumph. It is also a perfect description of the range of emotions that surface through revenge. It's nothing short of perfect in my mind. |

I heard this song in the beginning of what became a very rough period of my life. It has meant a lot of things at different times, but after about 12 years of listening to these guys, this song means that everything changes. No matter what, there is no right or wrong way to be, whether the guide of morality is religion, science, family values, philosophy, there is nothing in this world that can ever be truly constant except for change. All the incidentals (in the song and in life) are simply some of those "concrete" aspects of life that many people blindly follow. So, basically, to me, this song means to keep an open mind and to live your life instead of staying inside the invisible lines. |
