You got all that from those few lyrics? Cool. I 'read" the song differently. I believe it's about a writer who THINKS he doesn't fit in, but how s/he views himself (for arguments sake) is not how others view him. His perception of self is skewed, and almost always negative. UGH |

For those of you unfamiliar with Marvin's death, from Wiki: "On March 31, 1984, Marvin's parents had a domestic argument over misplaced business documents while Marvin, ill from drug use, lay in bed. Upon hearing this, he woke up and told his dad to leave his mother alone, though neither man physically attacked the other. The next day, April 1, the arguments started again. Marvin's brother Frankie and his wife, Irene, were next door when Irene heard the shots. When Irene rushed outside, she saw Marvin's mother screaming for help saying, "He shot my son!" Frankie ran upstairs to see his dying brother struggling to breathe, while Irene called 9-1-1. Paramedics arrived to find Gay, Sr. sitting on the front porch. They demanded to see the gun before they would enter the house. Irene found it under Marvin Sr.'s pillow and threw it on the lawn. I don't like it. I don't like hearing Gary say "fuck" in a song. He is too classy; too talented; too special reduce feeling to a cuss word. I don't get the second stanza. Who's making love? Is he talking about his former girlfriend? Or is he screwing someone and calling it love? For goodness sakes, do NOT call Flo Rida talentless. His music is just different from Snow Patrol's and there is room in music for ALL genres. Not everyone can/will relate to Snow Patrol just as not everyone can/will relate to Flo Rida. Now that I'm fuming, let me tell you who heterosexual men ARE. They are the suburban men in those cookie-cutter houses so many love to resent.
