I think you're all kind of right. The song means to me that the whole time, he was just being led down the wrong path. And now he's realized it's too late to change that. He was troubled, and obviously had issues. He wishes he was different, but it's just so hard to change. And I agree, my favorite lyrics: "I turned the page to a chapter that they thought was just a phase, but it consumed me." That line gives me eargasms. And I can relate. |

I see it as a change in character. The path that he was once on would've led to something terrible. So he changed, and now he's embrasing the future. It could also be seen as a love song. Talking about how some relationships are not perfect, and he just wants to be perfect for that other person. Either way, the song is basically stating that if you don't like something, you can change it, and it's not the end. Things can get better. |
