| Ne-Yo – Fade Into The Background Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I can't believe nobody has commented on this song. It is a really sad song. It is about a guy who has been invited to a wedding of the girl he loves. He tries to be brave for both his sake and the bride. But he is filled with regret since firstly she got away and is with another man and secondly, he chose to come to the wedding. As a result, he feels depressed since all he can do is "smile and fade into the background", which upsets him. I prefer it when Ne-yo does ballads as opposed to dance music or songs for the club. |

I believe this is a song about attention, with some suicidal connotations. The protagonist want's to be noticed. As a result, she perform activities such as taking unknown pills, dying her hair and cutting her skin. In regards to the chorus, she has false beliefs since if she were to do the activities mentioned, she wouldn't gain the level of attention she seeks. In the chorus, she acknowledges that "inside I'm still a mess", which leads me to believe she could possibly have mental health problems. The second stanza makes me think that she is losing patience and may possibly become suicidal due to a lack of attention. At the end, it makes me think that she is contemplating suicide. When the protagonist says she pretends she's a queen, this makes me think that at this point, she is finally able to control her life. This is because she is able to make decisions and she doesn't have to conform to what society wants. At this point, I think she is happy since she can finally leave all those negative experiences. "it's almost believable", that quote intrigues me since I think it is about not knowing whether or not she should commit suicide and also, if she has the courage to. I know that's a very depressing way to look at it but that's how I perceive this song. |

| Paramore – For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This is my perception of this song, feel free to disagree. By the way this is from a male perspective. I'm not sure who wrote the song because it could have been one of the guys who wrote it and changed the words slightly to let it fit for Hayley. Whenever I think about the title, it makes me think that the person is hoping things could get better, but truth be told, they fear for the worst. As for the song itself, it reminds me of a girl I know. She constantly lies to try and please everyone and make herself look better but whenever I catch her out, she always shouts at me and portrays myself and everyone else to be the villain. We are very close and she tells me things she wouldn't tell others, but she can also lie to me and tell other people different things which confuses everyone. But what makes me feel really stupid and naive is the fact that at one point or another, every one of her so called friends bitches about her and I'm the only one who defends her. However, when I'm with her friends, they tell me stories about things she says behind my back. I can't believe I'm admitting this online but earlier in the year, she told me she was pregnant. I thought she was lying so the next day, I spoke alone to her face to face only for her to shout at me and she told me I'm better off dead. I suffer from atypical depression and after that, I tried to end it via od. In the end, she was lying about the pregnancy. Back to the song, whenever I think of it, I think of her and the numerous lies she tells me. I don't know if I'm still friends with her out of sympathy or if I'm convincing myself that I can help her to change but the line "I put my faith in you, so much faith and then you, just threw it away" is how I feel to sum it up. Sorry for being a tad depressing. But this is a great song. I also think Hayley is kinda sexy ;) Take care :) |

| Eminem – You're Never Over Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think the line "you gave me a reason to fight, I was on my way to see you", is one of the most emotional lyrics ever written. When I first heard that line, I shed a tear. In fact, every time I hear this song, I try not to cry. In my opinion, the second verse of this song is one of the best verses written for an emotional song. The "dream" is a reference to Eminem's overdose. I had an overdose once when I was going through some serious depression, so the fact that Eminem has gotten out of his dark place, I admire him for that. The fact that he realised that he still has his daughters makes me think that he is a remarkable father. | |

I love this song. In my opinion, it is about a relationship that is falling apart and despite the protagonists best efforts to maintain it, the relationship has ended. In the end, the protagonist tries to reassure the other person that they did not know what they had until it was gone however by then, it will be too late for them too rekindle their romance. This song is important to me as I can relate to it in so many ways. |

| Ne-Yo – Go On Girl Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This is a my favourite song by Ne-Yo. It is about a guy (assuming it was Ne-Yo since he refers to himself as I) who thought he was in love with a girl. However, the girl was promiscuous and had cheated on him several times with "Earl, James & Jimmy". The chorus describes how he does not want sympathy and in fact, he is glad that he became aware of her promiscuous ways. Ne-Yo then notices that he should not be upset since he did everything he could and that in the end, it was her promiscuous ways which damaged the relationship (this is evident in the middle and last verse). In the end, he comes to the conclusion that he is "too fly to be depressed", a moment of realisation that he can do better and that this experience has not affected him significantly. |
