| Barcelona – First Floor People Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I believe "first floor people" are those who live on earth, reading "books on how not to fall" and simply going through the monotony of life with no thoughts on what happens after. I guess those on the "second floor" would be those in heaven or the afterlife. "This hole is deeper by the hour-my hands are bleeding, I spin around. You're nowhere." To me, this lyrics seems like Jesus, taking the cross and being separated from God for that time of death, because he graciously took on our sins. He's suffering for human kind, turns around, and realizes He has to do it alone for human kind. How lovely~ |

| Bright Eyes – Lime Tree Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Honestly, I think this song relates to the sour-taste of the author's life at the time, much like a lime. "some were ripe and some were rotten, I felt nauseous with the truth." Some one in his life was taken from him, or dying slowly (it's even speculated that it's an abortion), and that really stinks. But much like a lime, it can also be very sweet, like "sitting on a doorstep full of nervous butterflies" and peaceful moments like "I took off my shoes and walked into the woods". Maybe life isn't so sour to the author, but inconsistent in that some of the "fruit" he sees is perfect or completely rotten. |
