Shearwater – Star of the Age Lyrics 9 years ago
This is my personal interpretation, and I don't think this was intended at all by Jonathan Meiburg when he wrote it, but this song reminds me of the Star card in tarot. Common inferences for The Star include hope, healing, inspiration, generosity, serenity, positive thinking... yo, this is inspiring me to make a Major Arcana playlist. Shearwater, you are awesome.

Mute Math – You Are Mine Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't think it matters what this song is about. I know it's weird to make a comment like that on a site dedicated to interpreting songs, but this one is so ambiguous that it could mean God, it could mean a girl (or a guy), it could mean a place he likes to go or a hobby he likes to do. Who cares! The song is gorgeous; listen and be moved or move the fuck on.

Ween – Transdermal Celebration Lyrics 14 years ago
I, too, thought that this song was very loosely a reference to sex. After I heard and read the lyrics and had time to mull it over, I kind of dropped my original thought, but somewhere deep down, I still really want this song to mean sex.

But that's just my head in the gutter, as usual. Personally, that is why I am so in love with Ween. For one, the meanings of many of their songs are so up for debate that I kind of feel as if they're deliberately messing with their audience. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing; it leaves their music up to interpretation. The other reason is because Ween keeps my mind almost permanently in the gutter. :)

Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World Lyrics 14 years ago
Since it's been almost thirty years since this song was first made famous, I think it's a track that gets better and more poignant with age. Plus, TFF has a great sound, so this track remains timeless. I'll never not like this song.

Tears for Fears – Mad World Lyrics 14 years ago
Haha, you called him Ronald - his name is Roland. I do that all the time.

I like how the posts for this song have been going for TEN YEARS, and people are still hung up on Darko. I really liked the movie, but as a solid TFF fan, I can't say that I love this song because of the movie. I just love this song.

I think the sentiment in this track is extremely easy to relate to. I especially love the verse starting with "Children waiting for the day they feel good..." I had kind of a lonely childhood, my peers gossiping and screaming for the latest fashions, and all I wanted to do was be understood and have real conversations. I made better friends with my teachers. I still feel that way. This song really speaks to me - in every aspect, but in that verse in particular.
