I disagree only with the part saying human being descendet from monkeys. ''monkey'' here is really a reference to human race, but a way to call the humam ''dumb'', because of the shit they are doing.
I think, if there are biblical refences on this song like the angels, the creator father and eden, its more a biblical than a darwinist thing. But its just my opinion. |

I think There is so much bible in this song. The angels there(the gods assistants) are arguing about whats happenning with human race. Assuming that god(''the father that created'', listed on the song) created them by his own image(blessed them all) ,they are wondering why they are all sinning an. The reference to the eden its about adams history ;the beginnig of the sin and going out(being expelled) of the holy garden, due to the the sin. and now the human race is out of the eden, he(the human race) got free will to do whats on his mind and deal with the consequences of his acts after(the final jugdement, going to heaven or hell), so they keep on sinning and sinning, hurting one another, separating(cutting off right in two), as sinning becomes now their nature. They monkey thing there is a reference to dumbness of the human race that keeps on sinning, not the evolution from monkeys because if we assume this song is at least based on bible, it cant include the darwin theory.
Though I dont think its a christian song because maynard inst one, I think. And all the things I wrote up there are all just my opinion, be free to rate it and give more opinions too. =)
Please forgive my bad english grammar, Im brasilian. |

Man, search a little more abou t Tool, you´ll find that 10.000 days definitely is not about addicitions/drugs. For example we got the self titled track: 10.000 days and wings for marie, its telling the story of Maynards(tools lead singer) mother. Other songs of the album deal with some different subjects( some examples: rosetta stoned, talks about UFOs, maybe a ''trip encounter'', Vicarious is about finding joy in others suffering), but dont have drugs and as main subject, at least the great majority of them. |

Just adding this to my comment: it can be about drugs like the most of the guys here say. But having in mind that the media, the papparazzi discovers something about the addiction , the use of drugs by the guy , and hold this secret in condition of winning something from the guy, using him. Is it more clear for you?
Papparazzi ''blackball'' the name of people whom they got secret and cna use it to manipulate their lives. Its not impossible it cna be about it, the song dont need to be about drugs, definitely not. Though it isnt layne who made the lyrics |

Almost sure its about media and paparazzi, or people who spend too much of their time looking on the others lives, using secrets they discover against them, as they are weak to get somethinng doing anything better. |
