| Mark Knopfler – Old Pigweed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Mulligan stew is a dish shared by street hoboes and the can is the container for the food. Someone put the wrong ingredient which messed up the flavor and the anticipation of the delicious food and I think that this is a metaphor for the expectation of having had life plans ruined by some bad person. The writer calls for a "spoonful of forgiveness" which implies that he/she did something bad which was not forgiven Every song on this brilliant album is a story of a person or group experiencing hardship. |

| He's buying stuff that is capable of violence - bullets, razor wire, poison and a chain for a saw. As a farmer it wouldnt arouse suspicion to buy these items. A brilliant and haunting song. | |
