This song reminds me of my favorite movie of all time, Titanic. In my mind, it perfectly describes Jack and Rose's relationship (from Jack's point of view). Just hear me out for a moment... "She said let's change our luck..." This is describing Rose's feelings about being trapped with the same self-centered upper-class snobs for the rest of her life. She just wants a way out. "Sweet dreams that won't come true, I'd leave it all for you..." Jack dreams of being a famous artist, but he'd rather do anything for Rose, even though it means he has to risk getting in trouble. "Cuz if you jump, I will jump too..." This is obvious. Think about it. It's what Jack said Rose. And then Rose said it later to Jack. It's definitely a repeating theme of Titanic. "She said don't change your mind, Let's leave this town behind..." Again, Rose's thoughts of being trapped and wanting out. "Never looking back at what we've done, we'll say it was love..." They're willing to just leave what they know because they love each other. "Where are your guts to fly?" This is basically Jack saying to Rose, are we in this together or not? "So what's left to prove, We have made it through." Even though Jack died, he saved Rose and their love lives on. I'm sure this might not have been We the Kings' original intent, but you have to admit it fits pretty well... :) |

| I think this song is about a very passionate relationship that had a lot of troubles ("You'll be my fire, call me a liar"). Both the guy and the girl seemed to feel very deeply ("You'll be the reason I'll be uneven, you've got me on the edge to jump for you"). He would've done anything (jumped) for her but she left for some reason and he didn't want her to go ("What's your reason for leaving now? Is it too late to follow you out?"). It was troubled from the start ("We'll make mistakes the way we always do") but they needed each other and the good moments to get through their lives ("When we both need each other, these moments are Priceless"). | |
