Me neither, i don't think it's her seeking the company of a man. I think it's her wanting to pickup somebody - let's say another woman -, what she really did, but this was someone, who later wanted this to be more than just a "brief mad affair". At first, like i said, it was just an affair (in the distance there was fun), but then it became more serious for this other woman, who doesn't want to go on just like this (in front of me there was none, and reservation stared me in the eye). But she (wallis, or whoever) gets somehow torn into this and got "broken down on trial", and was confronted by this other woman to give in to a relationship, but she (wallis) thinks of it like a fundamental change in her life, like it would be too much, because she doesn't kind of do relationships. But then the refrain suggests, that she herself is surprised by the situation, hesitates, and realises that this would have been a chance to have a deeper relationship to someone than just easy pickups (there is someone who believes in me), but still she declined (nearly pushed me off my feet). So she just moves on and keeps on doing her pickup-thing (So I put guns away, I shaved my legs today, In hope someone may want to touch my skin. So don't bother to be coy, All it does is annoy). But then she asks herself, if this makes any sense going on like this (Is this where we start, is this where we begin?). |
