To slip into something implies a certain amount of ease, but I can't help but wonder if this reference to peace as a knot implies any of the other characteristics of a slip knot. Can't it be just as easily loosened and tightened? It is the most fluid of knots. What a way to describe peace as a transient experience. Sleep is distant to the troubled soul. Isn't it very human of us to ache for actual physical touch? I wonder if 'sweet seraphim' is a reference to the OT biblical singing angels or rather/also a 'vessel of grace' in tangible form. Not that I'm arguing for the morality of any particular behavior... just aware that God can give a taste of peace even in the baser moments of our humanity. Love the lyrics 'ear to the earth' and 'head to the ground' even though I can't help but think of Jay Silverheels. |
