| A Day to Remember – You Should Have Killed Me When You Had the Chance Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Okay guys, in general if you're not looking for a deeper meaning, it's about a guy who's girlfriend cheated on him, and before this they get into a really bad arguement, almost to the point of hitting each other, and so begans the song; [lyris breakdown] So I say goodbye to a town that has ears and eyes I can hear you whispering as I walk by Familiar faces smiling back at me and I knew This would make them change (This part is about him, and how he's going to leave because all this time his friends and people around him knew she was cheating on him, but never said anything.) The only thing that's going to bother me Is that you'll all call yourselves my friends (Reference to the top breakdown, where all these people are saying that they're going to miss him, and feel sorry for him, they supposedly call themselves his friends but lied to his face.) Why can't you look me in the eye one last time? (He can see that they feel ashamed, but still won't tell him what they knew.) The writings on the wall, you've read that I'll be gone, but if you call my name Just know that I'll come running, for one more night to spare with you This is where I'm meant to be, please don't leave me... (This section is how he left the message that he's gone, and that he's "killed" his ex girlfriend, {it's kind of a "prequel" before the last verse} but still wouldn't mind an other night to spare with her, and when he's like "please don't leave me," it's sort of a sarcastic line to her.) I've read these stories a thousand times, and Ill rewrite them all Youre meddling in an anger you cant control She means the world to me, so hold your serpent tongue Is a whores lies worth dying for? I'll just take my time (The first line is about how he's read all these stories about husbands killing their cheating girlfriend, and how he'll be an other story in the verse "I'll rewrite them all." & The rest of the verse is when he's debating on whether he should kill himself and die, in thee verse: "Is a whore's lies worth dying for?...I'll just take my time." the last sentence is him deciding he'll just die whenever he's meant to.) I walked into your house this morning I brought the gun from our end table Your blood was strewn across the walls They'll find you on your bathroom floor when I'm done But should I write it all off? (This is the hight point of the song, when he recalls walking into his cheating girlfriend's house, bringing the gun from their end table, and obviously shooting her, and when he's talking about "writing it all off," he means if he should clean up his fingerprints or just leave the evidence.) You should have killed me when you had the chance... (The last line is about him, telling his girlfriend that she should have killed him when she had the chance in the arguement earlier.) Hope that helped!(: |
