| The Pigeon Detectives – You Better Not Look My Way Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Lapse of memory. I guess the ugly and gross makes perfect sense. | |
| The Pigeon Detectives – You Better Not Look My Way Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It beats Marvin Gaye's song about going home with someone from a bar. Good song. Good band. Lousy fucking night. Wrong choice of wording. | |
| Matchbox Twenty – Unwell Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Genuine/sincere apology from the heart. Not the time (or holiday) to push. I am spent today...absolutely emotionally wiped out. I can only imagine the other. | |
| Matchbox Twenty – Unwell Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's a song about not feeling 100%...and sometimes just feeling absolutely sh*tty. I'm sorry to all of those who felt my pain that came out as anger...intense anger. I'm sorry for forgetting that some of us have more or larger crosses to bear. And I'm sorry that someone who knows how to be compassionate can totally lose control while forgetting what it means to be Christian. We're all unwell in one way or another, and especially in dealing with stressful or painful situations. I'm sorry for hurting those I love and I'm sorry for sometimes forgetting who I am; what I look like; and how I am perceived by others who don't share my same warts. I should know my place; it's not there and it's not being a raving witch either. I'm sorry for behaving unwell. I am gross and ugly, but more than just in the physical way. Good song. Very creative. | |
| R.E.M. – Bad Day Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| WTF? What a load of crap...lies to convince people to believe the way they do. Don't know who Laurie Hart is...she doesn't even come up in a Google Search she's so darn important. Ronald Reagan NEVER said that. Do a search for the TRUTH. Reagan was the best president the U.S. has ever had in modern times...THE BEST. And the Evil Empire was the Soviet Union not for it being a nation of atheists, but due to its human rights abuses and its failure to grant freedoms to its people. If you wanna spread lies to de-educate the next generation of Americans, you've made a great start. How sad that you do not feel it is your responsibility to spread nothing but the TRUTH. It doesn't have to be God's Truth, but at least political truth. You suck. | |
| Paul Baribeau – Rolling Clouds Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's about a drama queen who feels she has the right to string people along for her own benefit. I think she's busy fucking her boyfriend while she spews crap about caring for anyone else but her selfish self and having some gorgeous arm hang to make her feel important. The sun will rise in a few months and all will be perfect in her world. By the grace of God I hope I am involved with someone and have fallen head over heels with them so she becomes just a bad memory. Again, enjoy your week, your sex, your son, and that genuine, loving relationship you so enjoy. | |
| Maroon 5 – How Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| "And I never thought about you much...Till I'm broken down and all alone" Obvious meaning. This song is about five YEARS of the life of a man I know. He fell in love with the wrong person and got used by her. The only time she wanted him was when she felt too lousy to spend a lot of time with her BOYFRIEND. Oh, no. It wasn't one boyfriend. It was a string of boyfriends and a string of excuses. She made him promises. Even set a date. That date came and went. And now after so much time she expects him to believe his same ol' lies. She counts on him being stupid as she waits for the sun to rise and her to return fulltime to her boyfriend...and then another. THAT is what this song is about. It's about using someone...taking love for granted; taking friendship for granted; taking compassion for weakness; and using another to get what one needs...temporarily. | |
| Johnny Mathis – Silent Night, Holy Night Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Beautiful song sung by so many greats of our time. Merry Christmas 2012. May 2013 see a return to family; faith; lay mininstries; friendship; and a continued rise in volunteerism after 2011 was so dismal. | |
| Alcest – Faiseurs de Mondes Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Not everyone speaks/understands French. Not everyone is incredibly bright and gifted, although some of them get by and don't go over to the dark side and live out their days. Here are the lyrics for us little people who lick the soles of boots and say thank you. May I have more, please. Makers of the Worlds Your ageless eyes Are penetrating mirrors, Shaping and beautifying the world By their reflection. The edge of the woods, far away Becomes a moving temple, iridescent, Celebrating the birth of spring. And these immense mountains, Wanting to join the heavens, Whirling Above out heads. This reality around us, Is the one you have chosen And your dreams cover our sphere With an ideal painting, Unfolding in the light of your eyes, At the sound of your voice. |
|
| Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's saying CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND and STOP WHINING. It's not a very becoming look on you. Merry Christmas. Actually, that may be offensive to someone like you so Happy Holidays. | |
| Nina Simone – Don't Explain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh. I love Nina, but she has too many songs about women being doormats and supposedly it's perfectly OK. This is one of those songs!!! The woman knows he cheats and will cheat again, but she wants to keep him. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Move on sweets, and find a man who truly loves you and wants to be with only you. For gawd's sake, Nina really let her audience down with this one... | |
| Nina Simone – Go Limp Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| CUTE song about civil rights protesting and going limp when the police try to haul them away. But she also went limp when a man made a pass at her...and now she's pregnant and hoping their child will not have to fight for civil rights the way they had to. Clever Clever song.... | |
| Nina Simone – In The Evening By The Moonlight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| A beautiful song about a family spending quality time together with music; a fire; and moonlight. Perfection! | |
| Nina Simone – Let It Be Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I love it whenever I hear Nina sing this tune. It's so simple yet innocent. She just wants to be loved by her man and she's essentially praying to God that he loves her back. Let it be her. | |
| Nina Simone – Fine And Mellow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| A typical old song that is rather quite disturbing. The man is mean to his woman and treats her lousy in other ways (drinking; adultry; etc) yet she wants him to return to her. She practically begs him as she promises to be the wife he would love (in essence, she thinks she can change him if she treats him better, which of course is silly). I hate the old songs like this one where "love" and lust are confused. He doesn't love her if she's in the arms of another. Love doesn't make people treat others like crap. She thinks she'll 'lose (her) mind" if he doesn't return to her. Pathetic song, but Nina had a way of making even these types of tunes sound decent. | |
| Paramore – When It Rains Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I agree w/ you with the exception of suicide. Making a bed means to be stuck in a situation. At the bottom of a hole simply infers a difficult; unpleasant; hopeless-perhaps situation. I don't believe it's a song about suicide; it's not that hopeless since s/he's waiting for an explanation. | |
| Nina Simone – Be My Husband Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I believe the couple is already married (especially due to the timing of this song...back when few people lived together outside of marriage), but she wishes for him to act like her husband. She finds him mean. She's willing to cook and sew and be the wife that he wants, but she needs him to "act" like her husband...loving; kind; loyal; giving, etc. He is called "daddy' either because he's older (which was the case in many relationships of that time) or because he's the one more financially responsible for the family unit. Also, back then the man usually ruled the roost, which was acceptable providing he treated his woman well. | |
| Nina Simone – Bye Bye Blackbird Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I believe it's a song about death, but I could be wrong (as usual). | |
| Nina Simone – Another Spring Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| A song about an elderly person refecting on her life as she knows the end is near. She is thankful for all those warm spring days that saw her family raised and then out of the nest on their own. She rocks in her chair not knowing when her time will come, but knowing she led a good life. (We'll all be there someday. Some of us sooner than others:) | |
| Nina Simone – Work Song Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| A self-explanatory tune about someone who robs a store and harms the store's owner. He's doing his time on a southern chain gang (which still exist in some states) just waiting to go back home to his honey. There's only one line in the song that offends me, but Nina has sung many tunes about black history as she knows it..."Crime of being hungry and poor. I left the grocery store many bleeding/breathing." The "crime" was not only of theft (which might be excusable), but it is also of physically harming another (which is not excusable). | |
| Nina Simone – He's Got The Whole World In His Hands Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Those 5-yr-olds singing off tune is what makes the song perfect! Obviously it's a song about God having us in his care. It's an uplifting, simple spiritual. I sang this at bible camp every year, as well as Sunday school after church each week. Difficult not to stand up; clap; and smile when this simple tune is being sung... | |
| Nina Simone – Gimme a Pigfoot (And a Bottle of Beer) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| A cute song about wanting to let loose. Pigs feet are/was an inexpensive culinary delight especially among many poor blacks. She wants a pig foot; beer; and to let loose, not caring if it might lead to her arrest. She just wants to party w/o a care in the world! | |
| Nina Simone – Old Jim Crow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Nina singing about the Jim Crow laws and how that time had passed....dead and hopefully buried. Very simple song, much like a freedom anthem. | |
| Nina Simone – Do I Move You? Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think she wants to know if she turns him on, and she's hoping for an answer of Yes. Gotta love Nina! | |
| Jonas Brothers – Muffin Man Rap Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I always thought this song referenced an old pervert. Even as a child it gave me the creeps. As for muffins, yummmmmmmy when made correctly. | |
| Ween – Mutilated Lips Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Of course she's fat. It's the only way to really hurt a woman...critique her looks. Woot Woot. | |
| Van Morrison – Brand New Day Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| 2012 baby, 2012. New year. New start. New life. GREAT song...very inspirational. | |
| Drake – I'm Ready For You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Sexist. So women and men are supposed to have defined roles. Isn't it nice that you're such a conventional person with such rigid standards. You must be the life of every holiday party. Please allow this woman to serve you and service you as that is my destiny;) LOL. The song is about a woman out to prove herself in some way. She's tired of being viewed as ordinary; boring; whatever. She plans to shine...to excite. | |
| Poe – Angry Johnny Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Whose rage? SOunds like the singer is the one in the rage ;) | |
| Stone Sour – Bother Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| It's not about suicide. People who committ suicide don't sound so upbeat. This guy sounds as though he has a fighting spirit. Those who talk about suicide talk for attention. It's the silent ones who you have to worry about, and this song is not written in that context. Granted he's feeling down, but definitely not helpless and hopeless. And in real life, that's a good thing... | |
| Seether – Broken Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This is a song sung by a man to his young girlfriend who has temporary gone away; he misses her and misses having someone to dance with; drink with; kiss; and sleep with. It's a temporary loneliness and very soon he'll be back to having company and sexy good times :) | |
| Seether – Roses Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| What's my opinion, you ask. You wrote a fairy tale, but if it floats your lil' boat than good sailing for you... I think it's a song about a whiny, sniveling guy who wants sympathy because he refuses to deal with his own issues. He thinks short term and is either too weak or too frightened to have that drive he once did..back when he jumped every hurdle and reached every goal w/o the support of those who were supposed to be there for him. He's stuck in a rut...a boring routine he's held onto for dear life after he gave up on himself long ago. He sees his weaknesses and vices and nothing more; therefore, he does his damnest to make them the very best weaknesses and vices known to humankind, regardless of the longterm effects. He brags about his independence and his control over his own life, but when he's alone he sees the truth...that he is dependent upon his vices and has little control over his spiralling life. But the image remains, and he'll milk it until the cows come home (so to speak). The song is about how he wishes to be left alone whenever others point out what he refuses to admit to himself. He would rather have others say nothing and leave him in a state of imagined (sometimes temporary) bliss rather than face the truth. He comes undone and feels he cannot breathe when someone who cares refuses to allow him to wallow in self pity and at times a veil of arrogance. | |
| Tool – Aenema Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
It's PERFECT except for this one line "I'll see you down in Arizona Bay." I believe it's supposed to read "I'll see you drown in Arizona Bay." Seems to me that is more true to life....really summarizes the strong feeling of the song. Very good band with great lyrics to most of its songs. |

| Jamaica – I Think I Like U 2 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Since mine I will never have to leave him, my friends say I should never have to make things clear. I think I like u 2 I think I like u 2. so tell me what's next, I think I like u 2. Now is the time when I'm trying, tell me more and I'll try so hard, we could stay here for a long time. I'm not likely to forget but I don't know your name. We shook hands but I don't remember when. I know you like me 2 I know you like me 2 So I tell you what's next I know you like me 2 Now is the time when I'm trying, tell me more and I'll try so hard, we could stay here for a long time. She was never pretty she was only young She was never pretty she was only young She was never pretty she was only young Now is the time when I'm trying, tell me more and I'll try so hard, we could stay here for a long time. Now is the time when I'm trying, tell me more and I'll try so hard, we could stay here for a long time. ------------------- LOL...a true love song. Tell a woman she was never pretty and that she WAS only young. Hence, the guy's saying she's an ugly old broad but he'll scrape the bottom of the barrel when there's nobody else around. I'm guessing he gets his arse kicked to the curb quite often 'cause his mama raised an arrogant fool. BTW, someone with the user name "summerbabe" doesn't need to listen to this song ;) |
|
| Tool – Lateralus Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| VERY nice, except when you spoke thru your skinny arse: "he is saying that he is attempting to push beyond the 2-dimensional mores and prudish religious nonsense that still holds us back as a culture." Please enlighten the masses on how we are a "prudish" society that is held back. LOL. Due to all our freedoms, we have a lovely share of disease; abortion; adultry; greed; sloth; theft; lonliness; addiction; etc. Seems to me we haven't been held back, but would be much better off if we had some restraint, which God has suggested (and shown to be good for us). We just never listen, and I gather that Maynard embraced the "mystical" too much...and probably the booze. | |
| Of Monsters And Men – Love Love Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Maybe I’m a crook for stealing your heart away And maybe I’m a crook for not caring for it And maybe I’m a bad, bad, bad, bad person Well baby, I know So I think it’s best we both forget before we dwell on it The way you held me so tight all through the night It was near morning Because you love, love, love when you know I can’t love You love, love, love when you know I can’t love Find More lyrics at www.sweetslyrics.com You love, love, love when you know I can’t love, you... And these fingertips, they’ll never run through your skin Those bright blue eyes can only meet mine across a room Filled with people that are less important than you Because you love, love, love when you know I can’t love You love, love, love when you know I can’t love You love, love, love when you know I can’t love, you... |

| The Indelicates – A Single Thrown Grenade Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Go listen to some Beatles. Might I recommend 'A G" and then post about your experiences with the song so we can all hear how much you enjoyed it ;) Bye. | |

| That was of no help and I thought we had an understanding on this site. | |

| The Indelicates – A Single Thrown Grenade Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Anyone wish to take a stab at this one? Please. I am clueless, but then again I am a blonde...and not even a good one at that ;) Any assistance would be appreciated... | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I love this song of Ella's about a woman who has a no good lowdown drinking man who she still loves. Many of the songs of that decade were about women loving losers who cheated; got drunk; beat on 'em; etc. It was obviously before the feminist movement:) | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Summertime Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| LOL...old 'n' song. I'm guessing you mean NEGRO song. It's OK to say the word:) Back in the day, it was appropriate language and not viewed as offensive. Not sure if it was an old negro song (although with the mention of cotton it could well be), but it was one of Miss Ella's famous songs. It's obviously about a child being told by his parents that they will raise him/her well and be there to support him until he learns to spread his wings and fly. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Let's Call The Whole Thing Off Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Louis Armstrong and Fred Astaire also sang this. I'm not sure who wrote it and who first performed it, though. It's a classic, and it was very popular decades ago. Obviously it's about a couple who are very different and who seldom agree on anything. At the end they can't even agree on calling off the relationship because they claim they "need" each other. It's a fascinating tune about human nature and how opposites not only attract, but they often complement each other. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Treat Me Rough Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Only heard this one once (years and years ago) and found it amusing. It's about a woman born into a life of wealth and ease, and who has tired of being pampered. She wants a man who won't spoil her; rather, he'll send thrills down her spine like no other. She wants it "rough," which back in that day did not mean S&M:) It just meant someone who won't be a puppy dog who offers no challenge. He'll give her a run for her money when it comes to emotions, and THAT will excite her. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Dream A Little Dream Of Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Not sure if Doris Day beat Ella to this one. It's a classic regardless. Obviously about dreaming of some handsome guy who she's in love with and whom she misses. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| One of the ones I recall Ella singing decades ago. About a woman whose man only wants her on the weekends. She's crazy about him (or just plain crazy:) and wants God to get him to settle down (with her). A silly song, but Ella could make anything believable. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Don't Fence Me In Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Luv Ella. A song about a man who fears not only jail, but marriage ;) Hence, "Don't fence me in." | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – A-Tisket, A-Tasket Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| OMG. I never realized this song existed even though I love Miss Ella. As children we celebrated May Day and we'd sing this song (or one awfully similar) to celebrate the day. I don't believe any of us knew why we were celebrating the holiday; we just liked the colorful paper hanging from the poles and making May Day baskets in school for our moms. Miss Ella... #1 in her genre. I would have sold my soul to hear that woman sing! | |
| Lifehouse – You And Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Make this one last. You have it in you to do it if you share more of yourself...TRUST her. | |
