even people that generally like this song often don't even realize the genius behind it....Just look at the imagery behind the title itself "The Greatest Pac-Man Victory in History" I can't think of a better metaphor for a song about doing acid all the time...If you've played pac-man you see how he's always eating the white dots and one after the other and in order to win the player has to eat them all. What a perfect way to describe doing acid one summer, day after day, until all of them run out. You can even look at how pac-man has to always avoid and run away from those ghosts as a metaphor for how people that do acid all the time often take it to avoid escape and run away from their problems...the ghosts = real life problems...the white tablets = acid's escape from those problems. "Some will try to re-capture the same flag, but I play it smart and recognize the summertime passed." Anyone who has ever done acid can relate to this line...Most people that trip and experiment will never be able to relive those moments in the same way, and a lot of people who take acid a lot or on a consistent basis realize that as time passes the trips get less and less meaningful, eventful, and enjoyable. Here he's simply recognizing that rather than re-live those moments, he will move on with his life. Obviously there's the whole LSD second verse which is awesome...One of my favorte quotes from the second verse is "some don't like sobriety's dirty lenses" what a fucking great line and captures exactly how most people will feel when they come down from a trip and have to face the real world. Also in the first verse "let's get this windowpane and shut the fuck down" I cant think of any better way to describe an acid tablet then a windowpane...Acid gives a 'view' of reality from a new and different perspective....windows give people 'views' outdoors and beyond the confines of their house...Windowpane = acid is simply a great way to desrcibe it. Finally the chorus is simply one of the best ways to desrcibe how acid trips will almost always be like "Get up to get down" captures the essence of the feeling perfectly. I'll stop here, but I could go on for days... |
