Local H – Bound For The Floor Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song shows the dual frustrations in growing up with depression in our society today...

You just always feel down and you can't understand why but you just accept it and act like you're okay (perspective of yelling at yourself)...

When you look at all the happy people, they've given in to all the societal norms and are brain-washed by the media and government, they don't notice all the problems with society and that culminates into you being even more depressed (perspective of yelling at society)...

Using the music video as further reasoning for my thinking...

The kids start out in a school playground, even at a young age you just have bad days and feel like shit with depression... And school is the beginning when teachers and parents tell young minds the way things are supposed to be and how you're supposed to act...

They move to the bar, when you grow up you use alcohol to cope so you can feel happy and try to be social... And everyone else cares so much about being popular and trying to fit in, notice how everyone gets the same drink...

At the end the music gets heavier, the kids go to the concert and rock out... Headbanging to a song or dancing like crazy at a concert is a good way to blow off steam and forget about your troubles... We might all be bound for the floor, but the band gets you and gives you an outlet to relieve some stress...

Tool – Ticks and Leeches Lyrics 14 years ago
There are a lot of meanings in the song, but one of them is talking about all the ticks and leeches that suck his dick, suck it dry. He hopes they choke on his dick.

These ticks and leeches are the music industry and fans that suck up to him, and suck his voice out.

I think he is probably also referring to many different ticks and leeches everywhere, in life we're always sucking from someone or sucking up to someone. Life sucks.

Tool – Part of Me Lyrics 14 years ago
In my opinion, everyone is entitled to their own and Maynard preaches so, he is making fun of Tool fans who think they "know" him because they can decipher his lyrics.

He is making fun of all of us for trying to interpret his lyrics, he knows us better than he knows himself. I wouldn't be surprised if Maynard does not know himself. He is also mocking us for "knowing" him by being able to interpret his lyrics, when we probably don't know ourselves either.

We as fans won't do anything bad (speak, judge, leave, hurt) to him... "You're just here for me to use"... maybe to make money? Perhaps he also wants us "to give it up" trying to figure him out.

That being said, Maynard is making me a sucker, but I love Tool.

There are also undertones of the id/ego and even masturbation (you really should make a sacrifice and give it up). That's the beauty of Tool, there a million interpretations and its up to you. Maynard loves poking fun at us for trying.
