Sarah McLachlan – Hold On Lyrics 14 years ago
To me it seems that this song is about coming to grips with the fact that "the man I love is leaving", facing the reality that every day he survives is a gift which may stop at any time ("I lie awake and pray that you'll be strong tomorrow and will see another day...").

Facing the imminent death of a loved one sure does hurt like hell.

The Rasmus – Last Waltz Lyrics 14 years ago
I was just listening to this song and something sprung out at me. I keep thinking about that scene in the movie Inception where Mal jumps, the insistence that this isn't really real.

I think the key to this song may the lines:

"You say: 'It's simple: we die just to live again'
You say: 'We're waiting for the last waltz' "

If we look at those lines and place them in the broader context of the song, it could suggest something like the person this song is sung to (the "you") believes that we keep on living lives over and over again, waiting for the final life (last waltz) that will finally be... good enough? The end of the revolutions?

Or, alternatively, the "you" in the song believes that love is like a phoenixes life cycle, "we die just to live again", that relationships, too, must die and then be revived to die again and so on, so she "kills" the relationship ("highlight of the night is the unhappy ending...") until it can be... perfect? something... which would be the "last waltz", the last time they'd have to go through the relationship.

:BTW, I think the chorus should be:

"And so it seems we won't find *resolution*
Confusion leads the dance..."
