After 20 + years loving this jam ( at Loud volume levels) I have to admit that I've always screamed along with D. Boon thusly : ...' In the Place under My sheets..I refuse to be a slave'... I took that, with the rest of the song, to mean Hate the job you Must endure as a Slave...but never give up Inside your Dreams (that you have when sleeping under your sheets).
I will probably continue, My way, but am gladl to have seen these lyrics...

Perspective..the truth that anything you treasure can disappear...except your head. You live with your head (and the spirituality inside it) till your dead...then it doesn't matter.
@ firu... Totally agree... |

I agree with almost every comment...Thought I'd add a personal interpretation to one line:
"If You Go Straight Long Enough You'll end Up Where You Were"
Having personally fallen from sobriety from Heroine, repeatedly, this line is a 'sobering" truth that I feel encouraged by and defeated by (at different times). I Might end up in a wonderful place, like before Heroine.I Might end up in the same place, on Heroine again.
So many of the band's lyrics lead me to believe they have experienced addiction. Might just be Me,though.
