theres lots of references to childhood- With a smile that's stitched to the fabric of bedtime tales that Keep them kids out of the attic -her smile is formed out of the stories she grew up on, that formed her morals, "her inner compass" that kept the kids from doing things simply out of fear Picture a hole Put your hero in -prince charming, all that stuff, shes looking to the drugs as something that will save her The lines of chalk that benjamin might cop Killed the illustrations on the neighborhood sidewalks -reference to coke probably, comparing the amount of drugs you could get for $100 to the negative effects they have, replacing other forms of happiness, such as the simplicity of children playing with sideway chalk -could also be their future if the drug use continues- chalk outlines of their dead bodies The motive of the bird holdin' south on the atlas -birds migrate because its their instict, they do it to surive- the drugs control her to the degree she believes she needs them, that its part of her natural life and necessary Then all of a sudden she got silent Pupils like marbles, hide behind the eyelids Get away sticks go limping hole place The smile sucked up most of her face Truly *beauty* the scene *serene* And each criticism becomes redeemed Swallow my words No more judgment it's true Cause you look like what I feel like when I'm with you - they have a moment- getting silent perhaps because the drugs are wearing off, or their burnt out from them. but he sees the truth in her eyes, the pain perhaps, and all the shit he was thinking about her, based on her reputation and whatnot, dissolves. he sees himself, and the pain we all have at some level, on her face, in such a raw form. the fact he is there in the first place, not knowing how he ended up at her apartment shows that he is in just as deep of a situation as she is, just a different form. he shoulda known better because he has been in that state before, but he loves her or something of that sort. he wants to help but cant, has been watching her train wreck but has no desire to abandon it regardless of the destruction it could cause. |
