Note how the song begins as exactly what the listener is hoping to hear, and then slowly deteriorates into the sound of air being blown through clarinets. I think some people miss the point of this song... The main reason why I love this song is because her tone of voice in her singing (especially 'I could have another you in a minute') alludes to the fact that she can't actually get over him easily, but she's trying to convince herself of it. It adds a completely new depth to her otherwise straightforward lyrics. |

| i love both versions of the song; each brings something awesome to the table. i just think it's funny how jose transformed the song so greatly that no one would believe that the knife did it first with their tweaky electronics. to whoever said that the knife's version didn't mean anything (NEW NOISE), that's a baseless comment since the knife actually wrote the lyrics, therefore they, over anyone, would have given the lyrics the most meaning. in all, i think this was a great experimentation on presentation of music. lyrics can be beautiful when interpreted on both ends of the spectrum. | |

in the polaroid commercial, they replaced "die" with "fly" i'm pretty sure the song is about a guy who gets a girl pregnant for the sake of tradition. he apparently "needs something to go on" in terms of his bloodline, and "took the easy way." the singer is singing the irony that the child is no "easy way." "her body is the baby" shows that the child is the important part now, the mother is only a lifeless host. |

| I think the song to all of us has some kind of nostalgic value. I mean, from that explanation by Noel, he got the lyrics from the song from his own personal experiences, so I'm sure it brings back memories for him, as well. It does the same for me because I remember listening to it as a kid all the time and not knowing a thing about it (heh, remember how the radio stations would blank out the word "high?"). And a side note to all of those, including myself, who were desenheartened by Noel's explanation, I've always been taught that no matter what the artist's or poet's original intentions were for the song, it's up to us, the audience, to decide the interpretation and to delve deeper into the work. Much like nietzsche_66, I can't quite describe what the song means to me, but I definately know that I understand it. | |

I have a few comments for the lot of you: 1. I, too, think that markip wasn't joking. 2. Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson were friends because Trent signed them, so basically Trent owns Marilyn. Trent would kick his ass. 3. This song is about stupid people. In cartoons, the characters, after being hit with anvils and the like, "see stars." He's trying to create an analogy of people who act stupid like they've been beaten over the head with something numerous times. Or, people are said to be "seeing stars" when they are in a constant dazy, or constantly acting dumb. Fuckers was added in to represent the constant obsession with being stupid. Incorporated describes how stupid people are all the same, almost like being manufactured. I hope ive enlightened you with my words :) |
