| David Byrne & St. Vincent – Lazarus Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is about Lazarus, from the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. Basically, Lazarus is a beggar who dies outside the doorway of a rich man that refused to help him. Years later, when the rich man dies and is in hell, he looks up and sees Lazarus with Abraham in heaven. He begs for just some water from Lazarus, but Abraham says he can't give any because of the distance between the two. | |

So, after watching the mini documentary that comes with the deluxe edition of Year of the black rainbow, I can say I was partially right about this. Claudio explains that he wrote this song partially about him and his wife, and that the phrase "Here we are, juggernaut" Is like saying "Here we are, together, this unstoppable force". Given that, I think I was correct in saying it is about Coheed and Dr. Hohenberger throughout the story. The chorus is this statement that's saying "We screwed up, but that doesn't matter, because we're together." |

This song, again, is also the name of one of the chapters of the book. In this chapter, Hohenberger, is feeling pretty confident about himself, and hes talking to his son's grave about how its only a matter of time before the KBI takes down Ryan. The first verse, I think, is basically just Hohenberger bragging about how well everything is going. This is the hidden truth, the world between the lines Where there is no understanding us [He's saying that what he has created is secretive, and that there is no way Ryan can discover what he has done.] These lines have marked divisions, the weaker seek to malign [The "world of lines" is heavens fence, the universe in which the story takes place. It is a group of planets locked together by giant "lines" of energy. The planets are originally separated into regions, with designated rulers. Now Ryan is attempting to mess all of that up.] With this looming precious ending there's no more room for reprimanding [He is saying that the "precious end" the death of Ryan, is inevitable, and that its too late for him to try and make things right.] Oh, when words are lightly thrown In a world that's caught in a writer's web humiliation reigns [I love this line. Basically, Hohenberger has been tossing boasts around lightly, but this is a fictional world, and so obviously he can't just get away with that. He is in for a nasty surprise.] Communications breaking up, the static cutting the line [Not too sure about this part right here honesty.] This lying liar's had his turn You've managed nothing more than a pathetic attempt at attack This heart is everlasting, pushing forward, never crashing [At this point, Mayo Deftinwolf, Ryans second in command ambushes Hohenberger at his home after kidnapping his wife. He tells him that what hes accomplished amounts to nothing. The power of Wilhelm Ryan is everlasting, and cannot be stopped.] State your case and go hide Leave us to your worst, [This is Hohenberger telling Mayo, tell me what you want, then get out.] I will never give in to the hurt of your lies Cause' there is no hope for all your jokes and your plaguing insecurity Now I'll play your enemy, the only word you can find for me [Hohenberger refuses to let the kidnapping of his wife be the end. He agrees to do what Mayo tells him, but continues to plot against him at the same time. He will always be Mayo and Ryan's enemy, and nothing else.] As for the chorus, I'm not really sure. I think it could be from either Hohenberger's perspective, saying he won't give up. |

| Coheed and Cambria – This Shattered Symphony Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Chapter 15 of the book is also called "This Shattered Symphony". In this chapter, Dr. Hohenberger basically commits suicide by cop, attempting to assassinate Mayo Deftinwolf in the middle of a parade. However, I agree with the others that say this song is about what happens just before that, where Pearl returns home after her imprisonment. | |

The line "Here we are, juggernaut" is taken directly from the novel, in the first chapter.(Chronologically, it takes place around the middle of the story). "Co," She whispered, and she was pointing off to the right. 'I'm pretty sure we go that way." He looked where she was indicating and his jaw fell. "Oh my God," he whispered. "What is that?" "I have no idea, aside from 'gigantic'." Well...it's definitely that. Here we are, juggernaut" The context being that Co and Ca are infiltrating a secret base controlled by Wilhelm Ryan, and they stumble upon a giant machine harnessing energy from the keywork. However, its also used in the beginning of the book, in the dedications.: "My wife, Chondra, whose love and help cannot be measured. My music and concepts are riddled with you. Here We Are Juggernaut." So I think Juggernaut is kind of like a pet name used from a husband to a wife. Given that, I think each verse is supposed to be from a different part of the story, from the perspective of either Coheed or Dr. Hohenberger. |

| Coheed and Cambria – Far Lyrics | 12 years ago |

The line "I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces" is directly referenced in the book by the title of chapter 5: "Torn to pieces". At the beginning of the chapter, after hearing about how Wilhelm Ryan has won the mage wars, pearl finally snaps out of her nearly catatonic state that she had been in since the death of her son. She pours her soul out to her husband, Dr. Hohenberger, telling him that she is an empty, ruined, shell of a person, and that she probably won't ever be normal again. I think its pretty obvious that this is what the song is about, given how the chapter name matches and the lyrics pretty much perfectly describe the way Pearl(and to an extent, Hohenberger) feel. |
