I really am diggin this song. I love and enjoy the album, but because i've noticed it, this song is what i'm feeling at the moment. You can't be sure what they were meaning or thinking about while writing this song... but here's what I think about it lol. It's like a relationship with two people who are distant and disconnected. (possibly already separated, or maybe not. whatever the case...) Maybe 'his' partner isn't ''doing what's right'', ''making the right choices'', doing things that are affecting them both and making hurtful mistakes. Maybe the parter is living a frivolous life, being associated with 'bad' people and bad things, disguised as friendly, good and important. When really these 'bad' people might be their downfall in some way. - ''All your enemies smile when you fall''. This person takes it cause they ''don't know what they want,''. Don't know how to accept what's good or bad. And also take 'it', while taking for granted the person waiting on them. Hurting and wasting the time of the one that loves them, maybe dragging them along or using them in some way - "All this love of mine, all my precious time''. I really haven't understood yet what lines like ''taking nova baby to the dollar machine'' or ''there go the kids, the have-nots, elevater ladies in the parking lots'' mean, but lines like the first verse, and ''that party dress is such a mess'', ''you saw it all and I recall the dream you told me'', have personal meanings for me. That I could explain but won't. I suppose the easiest way I see it is, that this song is about a person waiting and waiting then eventually getting fed up with waiting on a person who doesn't know what they're doing with their life, love, emotions, and actions and what they want out of it. I assume in the context of the song - love, a strong/true 'relationship', sacrifice, and some worth-while-ness. ''You'll need me one day, need me one day soon.'' |

I'm not really sure why, because I don't really think it fits in with the whole story-line of the album very much at all, (maybe I need to look into it more, or am definitely looking too far into it lol) but for some reason everytime I listen to the chorus, I think of a few verses in the Bible. (I know, I know) BUT, there are a few verses in the four gospels of the Bible, I can't recall where exactly, that have to do with Jesus and his disciples. Jesus tells them, in different ways, that he will be going away- "to a place they cannot follow'' and that ''He must return to his Father'', ''leave and go back to his Fathers kingdom'' (Heaven). Jesus' Disciples ask him, if I recall correctly, where he is going and if they can follow him to where he will go. ''Tell me where you're going. Tell us where you're headed.'' Being, the disciples asking Jesus where he's going. ''Tell me some of your stories, tell us of your travels.'' Could seem like the parables Jesus shared with his followers. (stories/teachings) and also his disciples asking him where he's traveled from, (his home, Nazareth) and the places he's been, and also the acts he did for people along the way. ''I'm on my way to Heaven.'' Is like Jesus telling them about how he's going to be leaving them. He's ''on his way to Heaven.'' returning to his ''Fathers kingdom.'' And also the, ''Can we tag along, can we take that journey?'' bit, would be the disciples asking if they could follow. Because they clinged to him, and wanted to stay with him. Also, it seems like to me, the journey part, would be something like... a part in the book of Matthew. (long story short-) Two desciples had a request of Jesus. That one of them would sit at the right hand of Jesus, and the other at the left hand, while in heaven. Jesus basically told them that they didn't know what they were asking, because to come to be in a position like that, one would have to go through very much pain and suffering. The two desciples insisted that they'd be willing to suffer, to sit next to him. willing to suffer and too ''take that journey.'' In the books Matthew and Luke, Jesus talks about how, you must deny yourself and ''take up your cross daily'' and follow him. ''whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever will lose their life to follow Jesus, will save it.'' This is kind of like a ''Journey'' aswell. :| well, that was my two cents. I'm not saying that is what that portion of the song is about. I'm just sharing what I thought about it. |
