While listening to this song for the first time I thought it was: "You got my heart beating You got my mind to follow" Somehow I think this word play with follow/fall over was made on purpose, which I consider quite clever. :) |

This other person he is singing about sounds a little depressive to me. All the negative views and the crying... He tried to help but didn't succeed in making things better. Now he is alone/not near to this person. Maybe he thought it was too much of a struggle to be near to this someone. But even besides all the fighting he had to go through he now feels lonely and wants the other person in his life again. |

Maybe this song could be seen as a follow-up for U.N.I., in which he tells the story about losing his beloved one because of different plans for the future (music career vs. university). Now he tells his former lover that he is still on the road. Following his dream, even if it is a tough ride for him (no sleep, cheap? food, bus...). Nevertheless she is still on his mind and the thought of her accompanies him. He wishes her to be there by his side, to have a true mate to rely on. |

To me this is a song about an affair during summer, maybe during holiday, which had no intention to last. It wasn't that serious. The singer hasn`t been honest with his lover during their time together and now, after he had to return home, he regrets this by saying that he would actually need her right now. And that he is hoping that she will remember him and his affection. Meaning that his feelings have grown since they departed. |

So to me this song is about someone who has lost a loved one because of his own inability to change. He fells sorry for that and is only able to handle the pain by getting drunk. To stop his thoughts and everything. He knows that this behavior is wrong but hasn't found another way to cope with it jet. He wishes to stay in contact with this beloved person though he knows the other person won't love him like lovers do anymore (e.g. "so shall we speak then..."). |
