There's a much bigger picture, where Catch 22 is only one example he gives to prove his point. I feel like he uses many general statements. This is a typical approach to stream of conscious thought, a creative form of writing. His brain is giving loose connections to this emotion or mental image so that the song's main point isn't given away immediately. He gives you some ideas, but not the concept so that you may deduct your own story.
Point being, if you spend your time worrying about Tomas Kalnoky's relationships and microdetails you're wasting his and your time. These songs are supposed to mean something to you, that's why he writes such general lyrics. |
