| The song is describing how we often take things for granted, and being that a baby's interpretation of strangers (Monsters); makes us in turn hypocrites and fools because we grew up believing we would never be something, but became part of what we hate. "Control yourself, take only what you need from it" is actually saying "Take life one part at a time, and don't think too far ahead." It could also mean control one's addictions. | |

I highly doubt the song was created for a message, but I'll interpret these lyrics anyways. ---- I believe it is from a monster's perspective while telling a child that he need not fear him because of his appearance, and that they are both the same because on the inside he's a coward too. |
