| White Rabbits – Rudie Fails Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| As far as I (and a few friends) can tell, this songs seems to refer to the events (and their aftermath) of September 11th, 2001. The first stanza appears to detail the events (including "[making] it out in time," people "down in the streets," and the instruction to "run for cover"). The second stanza mentions people "duking it out and taking names," possible referring to the subsequent war in Afghanistan, and the narrator taking a number, possibly referring to victims of the attacks becoming statistics, thereby losing their names. In the second verse, he says, "if there's any consolation, I never got mine," which (along with the second stanza line "if you're money ain't no good that's fine") could be a reference to the 1.8 million dollars average compensation given to victim's families. | |
