This is a song about winter, obviously. The part where it says "...I start to float, till my mean older brother stuffed snow down my coat" just brings good cheer and humor into the factor. Great song. Unlike other songs Adam writes, he usually takes 2 words that have almost nothing in common with each other and brings them together creating vivid imagery. Such as "Owl City" or "Rainbow Veins" or "Umbrella Beach". In Peppermint Winter, the 2 words have stuff in common with each other, one of the exceptions in Owl City's own binomial nomenclature. |

This song is about a girl who is revisiting the past, where she and her previous boyfriend used to have fun together, and she misses her boyfriend. The boyfriend is no longer with her, for whatever reasons you can imagine. "I can feel you, in the rising tide" is indicating that his boyfriend is still dreaming about her, wherever he is, and "Can you feel me, by the fire side. From the moonlight..." is telling you that the girl is also trying to feel him, by revisting the past, "by the fireside" or "through the cherry trees"
"Color the dusk a deep navy blue, and try to be brave, 'cuz I'll be right beside you..." is the boy trying to tell her that he is okay where he is, and try to be brave, because he will try and guide her. "Reach for the stars 'cuz I'll be waiting up there" indicated that he is no longer on Earth, possibly indicating death, and awaiting her passing so they can meet again. But live life on Earth to fullest, "try to be brave, 'cuz I'll be right beside you." After this, when "you can finally fly" relates to the bravery line. Meaning 'live life to the fullest.' 'cuz you'll be lighter than air. |

I bet he felt that there didn't have to be that much vocals to express this feeling. Just a beautiful instrumental. And that takes talent to figure out. Adam may not be the best singer, but his music is just perfect. |

This song is telling how someone must feel when skydiving. Jumping off the plane would be were he says "then I was falling through the sky" opening the parachute is the final music instrumental (no vocals). |

"The bird is here, and we are off to wherever those wings take us" is relating how we can take to the sky by airplanes to how we can leave the Earth into dreams. They are not nessecarily with each other. They are just dreaming about each other on the same night.
"Relax your back and let the noise sing you to sleep in my arms" is relating to the airplane's engine sound and Adam's insomnia.
The second stanza describes how they follow into the dream and the magical fantasy in the dreams are open and limitless. You can go anywhere you want in them. Just like Air Travel. "The silver beams (metaphor to dreams) are twirling and swirling throughout your dreams (dropping a clue) like air traffic streams." |
