Counting Crows – When I Dream of Michelangelo Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is more about art, hence the Michelangelo reference, it's the idea of trying to create something so beautiful that it'll be remembered for years. I think Angels of the Silences is the same but portrayed in a sort of love song type way. Angels is an optimistic view looking to the future whereas Michelangelo is looking back in regret, sort of wishing he had done things differently. To me, as well, it speaks of my friend, who's American (I'm not) who I've had a troubled relationship with and who I've distanced myself with ('I can't see why you'd want to talk to me, when your vision of America is crystal and clean'). It seems a song that desires an ordinary life, either that or an extraordinary life, nothing in between

Counting Crows – Round Here Lyrics 14 years ago
I love your interpretation of these lyrics. I think that's what music is and should be about, each person taking something different from one song, Counting Crows are great at providing a canvas to do just that cos their songs are so subtle and, to an extent, ambiguous. I look at these lyrics in one way and someone else does another way, and sharing those ideas is brilliant cos it helps to broaden the ideas of others who only think in their own mindset

Counting Crows – Sullivan Street Lyrics 14 years ago
If you've heard the live record of August and Everything After you'll know this, but, it's about Duritz not being sure about his relationship, he feels that even though he loves her it's not a love that's going to last because all good things come to an end, and that's life, no one can deny it, and when he was thinking about the end of his relationship it reminded him of having to drive this girl home (and having to take her home to, or returning to his home in this fictional 'sullivan street') and having to let her go every night, never being able to keep a hold of her. I think it was those thoughts that ultimately lead him to cease his relationship with her, it wasn't a natural end, and I find that really sad

Counting Crows – Anna Begins Lyrics 14 years ago
The thing I love, particularly about Counting Crows, is that different people can interpret the music differently into their own lives, that's how music should be in my opinion but... I agree, to at least some extent, with everyone who's commented, but to me, I relate this song to a girl, oddly enough, named Anna, who I had a relationship with and I fucked it up, to me it's about not being sure about loving a girl who loves you, a girl who you have loved but at other times you question that love and only realise how much of an idiot you've been once you've let any chance with her go
