Elvis Presley – In The Ghetto Lyrics 13 years ago
absolutely correct. Besides, if poor people stopped having children, within a generation or two, asia, africa an south america would have hardly any people in them. The poor are the majority of the planet.

It's 'the roots of love grow all around', not 'the fruits of love'.
And it's 'all is lost' instead of 'oh, he is lost'

Paul McCartney – Band on the Run Lyrics 14 years ago
When I first heard this song, i spent a lot of time working out what it means. I may be wrong, but this is my interpretation of it.

'Stuck inside these four walls, sent inside forever' - The person in the song is trapped in a cell or prison.

'Never seeing noone nice again, like you, mama, you, mama, you' - The lonliness of being trapped, the person is alone in thier cell, only ever seeing other inmates and guards, all of whom are 'not nice'.

'If i ever get out of here, thought of giving it all away, to a registered charity' - The person would give away all the money and possessions that were stolen to get him in jail if he could be released. He was reminiscing about the wrongs he had done and was now paying for it.

'If I ever get out of here, If we ever get out of here' - I find this bit curious because he first refers to himself as being trapped, but then collectively, refering to the other inmate in the cell with him.

'Well the rain exploded with a mighty crash, as we fell into the sun' - The rain exploded with a mighty crash was the sound of a bomb or other explosive going off, breaking down the walls off the prison, releasing the prisoner. As the walls come down, he is suddenly bathed in sunlight, thus the as we fell into the sun part.

'And the first one said to the second one there, I hope your having fun' - The Prisoner talking to the people that released him (the second one there - they were there after the first one). "Are you having fun blowing things up?"

'Band on the Run, Band on the Run' - The group now leaves to escape the persueing guards.

'And the Jailer man, and Sailor Sam, were searching everyone' - Authorities were closing off areas the prevent the criminals from escaping. The Jailer was searching people leaving the area by land, whereas sailor sam was searching those going out on boats.

*Chorus*

'Well the undertaker drew a heavy sigh, seeing noone else had come' - I do not under stand this part of the song, so if anyone can think of anything, reply what you think.

'And a bell was ringing in the village square, for the rabbits on the run' - The village had the bell ringing to tell everyone to be on the lookout for the escaped prisoners.

*Chorus*

'Well the night was falling as the desert world, began to settle down' - As night was falling the search for the prisoners was diminishing as people were tired and it looks as if they had gotten away.

"In the town they're searching for us everywhere, but we never will be found' - People are searching the town in case they were still hiding in a building somewhere.

'And the county Judge, who held a grudge, will search forever more' - The Judge has a grudge against these people, possibly because they did something that affected him prior to thier arrest. And he did not like them because of it. But he shall now search forever, but never find them becuase they escaped him.
