Pretty sure that this song is at least partially based on the Science Police from DC Comics. The reference to a "motherbox" really supports this. Knowing HORSE the band, however, I'd wager that it's not literally about the Science Police; rather, that they are just using it as a metaphor for something much more important. |

Nathan (the singer) has said that the more unassuming, the song is the more tortured it probably is deep down. So I doubt it's about sex. In the documentary Earth Tour, Nathan talks about his cousin who died of heroin abuse. Perhaps the wand is a metaphor for heroin, and how the girl simply can't get enough? This makes the "she was looking for more than just a good time" lyric make sense as well... Oh, and Big Business is NOT about sex. At all. It's about Ed Edge, a close friend of HORSE the band's who has been with them since the early days. |
