I dont't completely agree with what beyondblue says. Rather than that it as a song about him not getting over his ex, I think it's a song about him being so broken by his last relationship that he doens't know how to enter a new, though he want it so badly. I think the last relationship was a bad one, but it took him a long time to realise that; she challenged his dreams and balance and it took him a long time to relaise that he wasn't happy and that his life could be different, it could be more than this; his life could be extended. But now he has met someone new and he sees her as someone who can save him form his misery and eventually can live a happy and extended life with. The reason he says could is because he is doubtfull if he can manage to let her in, since the last relationship left him in pieces and he has to mend these broken pieces before he can be with the new girl. "I'll be there as soon as I can" He wants to be with the new girl and live happy, but he has to build himself together first, and then he's ready for her. |

No, I think the lyrics is about a relationship which never happened. But both wanted it so badly. And it would have been a great relationship, cos the persons would just fit each other. But it never happened. And it was not due to that none of them didn't want it to happen, they were just so unsure about everything; what the other one wanted and if they dared to let someone in, to let the other person get to know the real you, cause that's the only way it could work. So they have been hanging on the hope that it suddenly would happen something that would change the uncertainness. Cos they want it to happen, they're just uncertain. (1st verse) Hanging on hope, that something would happen, not ready to entirely let go on that hope. (2nd verse)And this relationship between them has been going on for a while, and he found someone who gave him her heart, but he haven't given his, and he's not going to. (Sometimes, I still need you) Yeah, they need the other person to be so much closer. (3rd verse) And one of them has actually tried to get to something more, but it was a weak try, making only more uncertainness. She thought that he would meet him half way, therefore she now thinks he doesnt't want it to be more. But then there are all these little things that keeps poping up all the time which just demostrate that they should be something more. So she's hanging on hope he would do something. And he isn't sure if it is a try or if she has given up on him now that she doesn't trey again. (4th verse) This is the fuck-you,-I'm-so-over-you-phase, which shows that when people push away that's when they need you the most. (Chours) They both knew all along that the other wanted it to be more, but they were two lonely people who just didn't dare to give the other person her/his heart. |
