"Mother, don't worry, I've got a coat and some friends on the corner" another interpretation, although i dont think its correct here is if life doesnt work out for him, hes got what he needs to live on the streets. hes got the coat for warmth when it gets cold, and hes got "friends" which could really mean many different things. like others who are homeless who could help him, or it could be dealers, or it could be people who toss him change or who knows. i dont think this is correct but im just throwing it out to give you a new angle o think about it. maybe come up with something closer |

Very clearly about heroin addiction, and you dont need the last line of the song to know that. what i take from it is this: the first four lines are how he got in to dope. everything was good in life (spring times beauty) and the voice came from no where, because it was in his head. and it came just a the perfect moment. and when he dreams about heroin the heroin speaks in his voice, in his words. thats justification. at least thats what i take from it, as thats what my experience with heroin addiction was like. this song speaks to me very loudly. |
