Is it really "dose dose" away or should it be "doze doze" away. If the former, I'd postulate that he's referring to the popularity of LSD and MDMA during the 80s. There's a steep dichotomy between people who are boozers and into psychedelics, especially in the UK and here in the States. So instead of being a "loser on the pish again" he prefers to be of the drug community. I'm not sure how that applies to those who would have bought these trainers. |

Very interesting interpretation. And you may have a great point. We'll never know the truth, but the song is clearly is about heroin addiction and the self-hatred that comes along with it. Maybe some of that self-hatred is transposed onto Layne's father. |

Heavy Petting Zoo is by far NOFX's most somber album. They're almost emulating Bad Religion's approach to punk, for just one album.
Of course, there's always The Decline, which has a similar message. |
