This sounds less like a war against machines by humans and more about the problems associated with the increasing influence of technology within humans themselves, and how this will eventually lead to them relinquishing control over their own minds. An interesting lyric is "The mind now knows / new levels of fear". If there was a way to reprogram the human mind through technological means, then surely it could be possible that new, stronger forms of pain and fear could be programmed in. The song is a reflection on those ideas, I think. |

On the surface of it, this sounds like it could have something to do with drug abuse "severe injections, a lethal dose". But I think that given the context of the rest of the lyrics, this is probably a metaphor for shooting somebody. With its brooding atmosphere, I think the song is about police brutality and the unnecessarily violent raids made against those accused of drug related offences. |
