Frightened Rabbit – The Loneliness and the Scream Lyrics 14 years ago
This is my interpretation:
I think this song is about how he realizes how lonely he is, and how no one else sees it. He's trying to make everyone aware how truly miserable he is, "I have fallen in the forest, Did you hear me?" and "oh the loneliness and the scream to prove to everyone that I exist". He doesn't know how to fix it, and he feels an emptiness inside. Like he has what he needs but somethings missing from him, perhaps love or comfort in society.. I'm not quite sure.
I think the lover die though is stronger because of the fact he says "All I need is your hand to drag me out again," like when you're in a relationship and everything is wonderful because you can depend on that one special person, and when they break up with you, you're so lonely and don't know how to drag yourself out of the sadness that you're in by yourself because you've been relying on that one person.

"It wasn't me, I didn't dig this ditch
I was walking for weeks
before I fell in"
This is by far my favorite line of the whole song. I can relate somewhat, so the vibe I get is that he was depressed, he may have been through a break up and he wasn't lonely before. The significant other started a problem between them, causing the "ditch" to be made in the relationship, and the speaker was walking along it trying to avoid it, the ditch symbolizing loneliness. Eventually after the breakup he falls into the ditch of loneliness.

"Fall down, find God
just to lose it again"
When he falls into this loneliness and emptiness, he tries to find faith in God because a lot of people believe that God will always be there for you even when you have no one else, so he tries to fill himself with something of the high level because he has nothing anymore. But like many people at some point, you have a "Jesus-high" and you are so spiritual for a while, and eventually you lose it again like the speaker says. The way he phrases it makes it seem like he's done it before and he already knew the outcome that would come from it.

"Fell down, found love
but I can lose it again"
The speaker is really pessimistic, and makes it seem like he fell in love again and even though he isn't lonely anymore, the past is a constant reminder of the loneliness he's had and eventually experience again.

If you actually read all of this, kudos to you. :)
