Nas – Patience Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is pretty self-explanitory, but some of the metaphors he uses here are pretty thoughtful.

For example, one that has always stood out to me is "are we growing wiser, or are we just growing tall?"

Homo Sapien-Sapien literally means "wise wise man". It's supposed to bring the imagery of the "evolution of man" chart we've all seen. We've grown more and more upright as time has gone on, yet we've grown further and further away from our connection with the world. Many of us could "Drive cars" but would not be able to "milk cows". So are we actually growing wiser, or are we just growing taller?

System of a Down – Toxicity Lyrics 14 years ago
I think a lot of people are missing some lines in this song. I don't believe this song is about capitalism entirely, but about "taker" society.

An example of this is the line "eating seeds as a passtime activity". People on here, and people I talk to write this off as a nonsensical lyric, but I think it's one of the more meaningful lyrics in the song.

While the entire song talks about "owning the world" and "owning disorder" (which the world is often considered to be 'disorder', and something that civilized man has always tried, and failed, to control). When it comes to the "eating seeds" line, it goes hand in hand with the need to control the world. He isn't talking about sedating yourself. That would be the opposite of "owning" the world. He is talking about consuming the world, and consuming life, not for sustainance, but as a "passtime activity", because we've developed a need to penetrate and devour.

"everything along the land we're consuming; eating, deleting, ruin." - Nas
