Real Friends – Alexander Supertramp Lyrics 12 years ago
Alexander Supertramp was the alias of Chris McCandless, a kid from Virginia who donated every penny he had to charity and took off to hitchhike across the US in 1990. His ultimate goal was to travel to Alaska and live for a time in the wilderness to "find himself." He had minimal supplies and no experience whatsoever.

After hiking along the snow-covered Stampede Trail, McCandless found an abandoned bus used as a hunting shelter. He (incorrectly) assumed that he could live off the land indefinitely by hunting and gathering. In July, after living in the bus for three months, he decided to leave, but found the trail back blocked by the Teklanika River, which was then considerably higher and swifter than when he crossed in April. Injured and with no food, McCandless starved to death. His body weighted 67 pounds when it was found two weeks later.

The story of Chris McCandless's "Alaskan odyssey" was turned into a book and later, a movie. People tend to romanticize the events that took place, claiming that McCandless was a pioneer, a free thinker, or someone who wildly rebelled against society. In all actuality, he was a stupid kid who wound up inadvertently killing himself.

Florence + the Machine – Bedroom Hymns Lyrics 14 years ago
I see this song as being about a woman who rushed into a purely sexual relationship. The guy truly loves her and believes she loves him as well, when in actuality, she doesn't care about him at all. She just wants the sex. The parallels between religion and sexual innuendo lead me to believe that the woman was raped before. Some rape victims shut down emotionally and are afraid of any sort of contact with people, sexually or nonsexually. I could see this woman trying to get over her fear of intimacy by involving herself in this type of sexual relationship and therefore feel "pure" and okay with her body again. Not a wise thing to do, but it happens.

As I mentioned before, the man is in love with the woman and believes the woman is in love with him, so he proposes to her, she, not knowing what else to do, accepts, but knows in her heart it's not what she wants.

Florence + the Machine – Lover to Lover Lyrics 14 years ago
I believe this song is about a woman who is cheating on her significant other. The guilt of it is eating away at her. She's losing sleep, she can't focus. Her worries are keeping her up at night. The lines "I've been wandering streets/for days and days and days" leads me to believe that the other man might be some distance away, or perhaps she sees him so frequently that she feels like she's been "wandering" back and forth between the two. She knows that there's not going to be pretty; leaving her boyfriend/husband is going to be the most difficult thing she's ever had to do. "Heading down" might allude to her ever-growing sense of dread for the final confrontation, but in the end, it's all going to be alright.
