@[Gabinlove:7773] Ahhhh, I think you're really on to something. A couple things that you might consider instead: Muscle to Muscle toe to toe ---> This sounds like facing off to a fight. So, maybe this is where the dysfunction in their relationship is? They get ugly and go toe to toe with each other. Let's eat my love ---> I don't think he is referencing her. As in, he's not calling her his love. He's talking about, let's eat my heart out. Let's kill my love for you so I can stop all of this. Think towards the end of the song when he begs her to "Please break my heart." Anyways, I like your take on the song. Let me know what you think of my notes. Later |

I've read most of these posts... I think that people are close, but still missing the mark. It is about a one-night stand. But, not with someone new. Its about a previous love. The reason they are hooking up again is because they are drinking and the mood is right. It is the tenderness of remembering how good it used to be, but then the realization that it can never happen again.... ie- To call for hands of above To lean on Wouldn't be good enough For me, no To me, this means that even if God was encouraging the union, it wouldn't be good enough a reason to get back together. I think this is supported by the lasts verses that talk about knowing the hand of the devil or wolves teeth. I think this is a very general metaphor. You could link this to cheating, physical abuse, or drug abuse... ect. The clear cut meaning is: Two lovers that have been separated, meeting up for one more drunken night of ecstasy, and the relief that it makes them feel... trying it again, ultimately ends in the relationship dying a quick death. |
