you're right, that is the hebrew transliteration of Jerusalem, even though Jack sounds like he's saying it in English. It sounds to me like a common Jerusalem experience (I lived in Israel for a while), in which someone goes there with certain expectations which quickly break down. To me it sounds like a religious person who went on a pilgrimage who realized how much fun it is to not be religious. The reference to the cats is just a response to the number of stray cats in Jerusalem. The British released cats all over their mandate in order to control the rat infestations. now they have a cat infestation instead. |
