Is your love really love... ...or do you really only love yourself? Is your god really God... ...or do you really only serve yourself? |

A tall tale pub boast about a great ship whose described size and cargo are way beyond anything imaginable...but you have to believe the teller, because he's the only member of the crew left alive. "Oh yeah, well our ship had 27 masts..." |

| Finch – Ender Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
"Grasp our hands together, we feel we are one result" The name of the song is "Ender", which comes from the title character of Ender's Game and Speaker For The Dead by Orson Scott Card. This song is about love for our fellow human beings. Ender is a very empathetic guy and he explains that to defeat enemies one must understand them as they understand themselves. By understanding them as they understand themselves, however, you will come to love them as they love themselves. Therefore, defeating these enemies hurts because you are causing harm to those that you love: these very same enemies. So, Ender regrets all the enemies he has defeated and wishes to never have to do so again. Instead he seeks to understand and love everyone, and he does his best to inspire others to do the same. |

| Barbarossa – Stones Lyrics | 14 years ago |

"Stones that I carry around. Every stone's a story, it weighs me down." "Sharp as a marble, these stones keep my feet on the ground. All this experience weighs me down." ^ These lines are about someone who was wounded in the past. They were hurt so badly that the weight they carry keeps them from pursuing their dreams. Its usage in How I Met Your Mother was pretty dead-on. The way Shannon (Barney's first girlfriend) hurt him made him close off his feelings in order to protect himself. He's so afraid to let himself love again that he can't take a chance on Nora, even though she's falling for him too. That episode breaks my heart, because in the scene where he's looking in the restaurant window at Nora and her parents I don't see Barney...I see myself. "But there is gold hidden by rock and sand. I have to search a little harder now." ^ You will find the gold if you just believe and take a chance. |
