I'm not going to comment on the meaning of the song, but I just want to say how much I love Ed Sheeran's clever play on words. He does it all the time, and it always gives the song a much deeper meaning. I'm especially thinking about the line: *It's not a HOMELESS life for me/ *It's just I'm HOME LESS than I'd like to be/ |

| I'm probably stating the obvious here, but the way I see it, the point of the song is based around the wordplay "You and I" (two people), but when written as letters, it says U.N.I. which means ONE. Clever idea! | |

I gotta say I love lyrical ideas that can mean different things to different people. To me, "covered in white" could mean: *In the snow (since the song takes place outside in winter). *Drug substance like cocaine (white powder). *Dressed in white (often associated with angels). *White bedsheet covering a deceased. Hopefully it doesn't mean cum, which also was "suggested".. haha.. |
