Talulah Gosh! – Talulah Gosh Lyrics 14 years ago
nonotme: it's unlikely you'll see this but just for anyone who is wondering... The comment about Grogan prompted me to do a bunch of research, scour Altered Images and Gregory's Girl on YouTube, and do a double take of Kristine Kochanski worthy of the script of Red Dwarf itself. I think the band takes inspiration from Grogan both overall and in the song but I"m not convinced it's biographical or anything. Especially because in my opinion it's almost a bit mournful or sarcastic about the narrative.

Grogan, who has no literal connection to TG except as a probable inspiration, evidently has further capitalized on the name/narrative of a character both like her and like the Talulah of the song as recently as 2008:

If wikipedia's to be believed, Claire Grogan dropped the "i" from her name to differ herself from another in the same acting union. It's likely the band continued this (not necessarily on purpose) by dropping the "l." The character in Bugsy Malone, for whatever she's worth, is spelled Tallulah, after all. It's hard to know for sure about it, short of having 30 year-old issues of NME lying around–although I'm sure someone does.
But who cares? Speaking to "It's really strange that nobody has added a comment before," I mean. They're an obscure group for any number of reasons not including their already being obscure. As the song notes, and this comment reflects, there's something not necessarily healthy about pop obsession.
