EVERYTHING and anything....related to any kind of understanding between human beings, animals, nature , the universe, etc....... that's why you can find endless examples starting from balance within the bits and pieces within yourself tooooo.... your relationship with god/spirituality/etc. to relationships and kingdoms.....it's all the same, the universe is connected, it even communicates in the same language if you learn to listen....all these songs and messeges are CONNECTED . all the music that you HEAR....open your thid eye , embrace your life , find balance and you'll learn to swim beyond your mortal being.....THAT'S true survival, true life.... |

it's cool that you can find examples for this in daily life , if anyone is an artist or a musician, you'll know that when you are asked to sketch something exactly how it is, you have to look at the object you are drawing most of the time, if you look at your drawing too much it would only look like what you have seen before or the past wich= repeat or drawing something that doesnt look like the object at all....so, in order to understand what is happening and to be shown your 'way' or 'path' that leads you to your desire, you have to be in the present , and slightly glimpse at the past or future when you are guided to do so....or else you can't create or be created through an existense that you can't understand, you can only 'feel'...but i always thought it would be the other way around, that 'I' was my mind or body and i had a soul that i would seldom be connected with, but it appears that maynard is saying we are our souls and we have to get connected to our bodies...(?) but in lateraus says the opposite.....idk... |

imma say it again, 9 years later and half way around the world.... thanks madson4562! this is one of the most important songs in my life rn, and in my 16 years of living this life, i've never heard a song this straight-forward and powerful...but my question has been for a long time...how? how can i become balanced and live afull life when i'm living with the ppl around , and they're labels for me? cuz i obviously cant just take me and put me some where else...that wouldnt even solve anything...this has been my favorite phrase for a long time now, it's written on my wall , but i really want to understand it's true meaning and the way to achieve it: SWING ON THE SPIRAL OF OUR DIVINITY AND STILL BE A HUMAN.. if any ody body has the answer plz guide me... |

that's so true... it really is a positive song, urging us to try and gain more knowledge about our nature and try to gt back to that in order to survive, after every worthless, fake instrment we have built to keep ourselves occupied and make our lives easier only to find we've in fact made it so much harder to find peace , so we have to take a step back and start over , so our souls will reach a higher level and learn to swim ...... im happy that you've found a way to get to your peaceful place and i hope someday i'll be able to do the same and to truely open my third eye and view the universe as a creator .....thanks myeyehurts:D |

hi! i just wanted to say that, 9 years later and half-way around the world, i can say that this song has as much of a deep and strong meaning to a 16 year old as it ever will to any one. i have to say: i dont think "swimming" has it's actual meaning here, to me it seems like maynard is saying,what would you need and how can you improve yourself if everything you knew in your life would just disappear? it has a spiritual meaning, to balance your soul, etc. i just wish i could find out what it is.... |

apart from everything that everyone else said i just want to say this: this song seems like its partly refering to the fact that from the begining, humans have built houses or bunkers to protect them selves from nature and with that they have left their 'women and children' or the feminine part of them self and inner child locked up some where apart from who they are. its like its saying that we didnt balance our different bits within ourselves....so we cant move in the speed we normally should have, we made cars and mobiles and we do whatever we whant without thinking....eat to much,or have too much emotion...etc. it kind of reminds me of tool's aenima , saying that since we couldnt master our inner self and create balance in the world, (mother) earth's response is to wash it all away...it remind me of how stupid human beings are and how they dont understand the dangers of what it means to grow apart from nature and do things they werent supposed to do...and the consequences...i hope that ive been able to say what i really meant...
