Mumford & Sons – Hold on to What You Believe Lyrics 12 years ago
As much as I like this song lyrically, it resonates me more on a musical level. Too bad I can't get the fullness of the sound as I only have my laptop and a worthless pair of airline headphones for music listening purposes. Maybe I'll ask for some new headphones for Christmas. Anyone familiar with beats headphones or have another recommendation?

I think that the lyrics do speak of second guessing. I think it also could be a take on present society and how previous generations seemed less distracted, and therefore more apt to make things work.

Wilco – Impossible Germany Lyrics 12 years ago
No matter what I'm doing, when this song starts playing on my earphones, I just sit there and give it my undivided attention. It is that good. I really liked Aimes interpretation of the lyrics, so I'm not going to even bother trying to top that. The line you quoted is definitely one of my favorites. While I understand there very well may be merit to a historical component of the lyrics, to me it always has sounded like it was about two people. The musicianship at the end of the song is vintage Wilco. Great stuff!

Wilco – Reservations Lyrics 12 years ago
Wilco has a lot of great songs. My older brother turned me on to them and I always enjoy when they come on my playlist. Don't get me wrong, I still steer towards my age appropriate pop such as cody simpson, but am always open to music that other generations enjoy.

As far as the lyrics to this song, while he may be sure that this person is one of the only good things going in life, I think it's pretty clear that he doesn't necessarily think this person understands what he/she means to to the songwriter. Therefore, I think this is just an inner dialogue, and not something he actually plans to say to the one he admires.

Okkervil River – John Allyn Smith Sails Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm resigned to listening to this haunting song on my sub par laptop speakers and it just doesn't have the same effect. Alas, the price I pay to be on the go for work all the time. Might have to start looking into getting an upgraded mobile speaker such as bose soundlink, but am up for other suggestions.

This song saddens me, but it is a unique perspective on a tragic event. Musically the switch to sloop john b is pretty spell binding. Off to listen to some Beach Boys!

The Doors – Indian Summer Lyrics 12 years ago
Jim Morrison has such a haunting yet soothing voice. It has been many years since I listened to The Doors, but now that I'm moving into a place I plan to stay for many years I hope to create a great listening experience in my home. Thus, I've already begun ordering albums and am in the process of researching audio companies that can give me the best bang for my buck when I put on a song like "Indian Summer". So far I'm just in the beginning stages of research, but if one has an opinion on a company like niles audio or similar please feel free to inform me.

Morrison Hotel was a great album. I think this song speaks of that moment when something great, whether summer, time spent with a loved one, or a wonderful conversation with a new acquaintance lasts a bit longer than originally expected. This unexpected good fortune often forms fond memories, and I'm guessing Jim was doing some reminiscing on one of these times in his life.
