On the songwriting credits it mentions Pat & Taylor coming up with the song, so I would say Nirvana references would be off. I'd say the song is just about waving goodbye to an unhealthy relationship, someone that obviously had a huge impact on the narrator's life, but he finally got it together and is walking away from that situation. |
