I like the connection your making here. But why limit it two one meaning. That is the beauty of poetry in any form. There are a lot of bad answers, but there can also be multiple great answers. If you consider the song as an allusion to Georges Clemenceau and also also a relationship with a deteriorating drug addict, it becomes even more brilliant. And I find it perfectly possible that Pinback was doing just that. Because they are truly brilliant. |
