He portray his woman as a "terraplane". He was always wondering around playing in different towns and he would come back and ask himself "who has been driving my terraplane since I been gone?". I personally like the lyric "I got a short in this connection, ooo' now babe and its way down below." Sounds to me like he is trying to get a little action and she isn't game due to this mystery man. Several biographys say that he had many women in different towns that he would use as a place to sleep. This probably is descibing an often occurance he incountered as opposed to a singular woman. |

He has two versions o the 1965 Album. One is filled with a more spiteful bitter set of lyrics which depicts his disgust in her. It portrays him harming her some way, but never mentions violence. The other seems to discribes him loving her and morning for her loss. It also give the feel as she left him against his wishes. A lot of people seem to read into the "judgement day" lyrics as if he killed her,. Remember Son House most undoubtably believed everyone stands to be judged. Thats the good vs evil battle that makes us all interested in him. |
