Yoav – Adore Adore Lyrics 13 years ago
I will purely speculate. I am biased in my views due to the fact that Yoav toured with Tori Amos who he must share something in common with. She is heavily involved with the occult and embraces things I believe are of a fallen spiritual nature in order to create her music. I think Yoav does the same. I believe this song is at the very least a tribute to the enemy of mankind, Satan. Satan is a real and a heavy influence on modern rock (see documentary entitled "Hells Bells" for an awesome critique). Hopefully Yoav is not dabbling in the occult in order to influence his creativity, however I do see the hallmarks of Satan's fingerprints in this song. In fact there is so little subtlety that it almost reaks. Yoav, again may be unaware that he is doing something that Satan loves. He is making a comment of the god of this age and his title as a prince of the power of the atmosphere of thought that influences how we contemplate the Truth. Satan's assault on us is everywhere, as Yoav points out. Satan wants to be adored and worshipped. That is why he has fallen, that morning star, the highest angel ever created who wanted to be the Most High. As a discerning believer I can easily see this is an eerie reminder of how prideful the devil is, mocking us as we might even suggest he is not real. What Satan wants is to destroy us because he hates God, the One and only One who deserves our adoration and worship for dying for us on the cross and defeating the devil in ultimate and everlasting victory over sin.

Mute Math – Blood Pressure Lyrics 14 years ago
Like the other posts I agree. The only addition is that the pressure is blood, or in other words the pressure is coming from a family member. He feels pressure from his parents to be like his brother-all blood relationships and sometimes the hardest relationships to reconcile when sibling rivalry is part of the equation. To be really analytical though I am curious why the writer focuses on two things--to be better--to do a little more for Jesus.
I wonder if the writer thinks he can please his parents by "doing a little more for Jesus even though that will mean nothing to Jesus since he does believe in Him. What is apparent here is the writer's confusion and frustration. His parents dearly want him to find God and be saved. His parents want him to whole-heartedly love God and do more for HIm because their son loves God. But like every single one of us......we have all "gone astray" and don't really love God...at least not the God who calls Himself Jesus Christ. This pressure the writer is dealing with is on all of us to reconcile with God...and since He is our Father it is indeed blood pressure.

Alexander Ebert – Truth Lyrics 14 years ago
He does say "the Bible". It is clear upon repeated listens and is confirmed by the posts above. Ebert clearly lifted the lyrics and replaced them in order to not offend people. Thing is you are just avoiding the question I posed to you Masshero. Why don't you act like a man and pony up an answer the real question that is killing you. Was Jesus a lunatic or God in the flesh. Your answer is between you and Jesus. I have nothing more to say to you if you won't get off the fence. As a side I really don't hold any animosity towards you if you don't believe. All I can tell you is I never believed until a couple of years ago when somebody did to me what I am doing to you and led me to Christ. I believe He loves you Masshero, I don't know you but He does and all you need to do is open the door. My prayers will be for you and let me apologize to you for offending you by seeming arrogant...deep down I still struggle with being a prick even though He has forgiven me for all my flaws.

Masshero. Do you notice that the post I wrote stirred up some serious anger in your heart. Do you enjoy the song and wanted to know what Ebert was singing about? I did. I heard that line about the Bible and it hurt because I believe the Bible is our truth. Do you know that Jesus claimed to be God..."I and the Father are one"..."Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father". Those are pretty lofty comments from Jesus. Some people say Jesus was a good teacher and nothing more. That is hard to believe though don't you think. After all Jesus claimed to be God. So Jesus was either a lunatic or God in the flesh. What do you think is the truth about that Masshero?

JPR685. You hit the nail on the head in my opinion. The lyrics do say "every little lie in this world comes from the Bible". Clearly Alexander is a man who hates Jesus Christ and all that the Bible says. Clearly from his lyrics Alexander is a man who struggles with his own sin but refuses to change his life and so has let his darkness take over. There is nothing more incredible to see than a man with a settled disbelief in his own Maker. Alex may have had a religious upbringing or not it does not matter. He is in rebellion and like every man in rebellion their is a willful disbelief in his heart. He believes that belief in the Bible is for a dumb mind, senseless and makes him into one of the cattle. Keep in mind that man in his natural state, that is a man who is not born from above, perceives all truth of a spiritual nature as foolishness. Alex has not been reborn and cannot receive the things of God-they are foolishness to him..thus his lyrical description. The whole thing is painfully ironic given the song title. I tell you the truth no man can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born from above-Jesus Christ-The Lord.
